7TH ANNUAL WHISTLE STOP SHOWCASE & LABOR DAY CAR RALLY
Labor Day Weekend was a huge success! The Georgetown Lions Club, Destination Georgetown, and the Georgetown Optimist Club hosted a fun filled weekend that included antique engine and tractors, craft booths, and much more. Eighty-one car enthusiast displayed their rides while listening to music provided by the Slammer Jammers. It was a great event with near perfect weather. We look forward to next year. Georgetown Farmers market
The Georgetown Lions Club participated in the inaugural Georgetown Farmers Market on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Representatives of the club were on hand to tell the community about Lions International and our local club. They also had information available about the upcoming Georgetown Whistlestop celebration on Labor Day Weekend.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, members of the Georgetown Lions Club picked up litter along Highway 64. The club partners with the INDOT Adopt-a-Highway Program to maintain a two mile stretch of Highway 64 from the Floyd/Harrison County line to Henriott Road in Georgetown. Afterward everyone enjoyed lunch at 812 Pizza provided by Destination Georgetown.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
On July 8, 2024 the club hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive at Georgetown Christian Church. It was a very successful day. Twenty-two pints of blood were donated. Thank you Georgetown Christian for letting us use the gym.
2024 Lions Club SAM HOPPER Scholarship Recipients
The Georgetown Lions Club awarded two scholarships to Floyd Central graduating seniors. At our May 21 meeting, the Lions presented Greenley Burke and Ainsley Tyler $1,000 scholarships. Greenly plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University. Ainsley will attend Eastern Kentucky University to pursue a career in aviation.
The Georgetown Lions award two scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Floyd Central High School. The scholarships are also available to home schooled seniors who from the Floyd Central area. The Lion’s Club moto is “We Serve,” therefore, the scholarship selection criteria focuses on community service.
Students interested in future scholarships can get more information from their school counselors or at the Scholarship page on this website. The application deadline is typically the first week of April.

Lions participate in 2023 Repair Affair
On Saturday, September 30th, the Georgetown Lions Club and the Georgetown Christian Church teamed up with Repair Affair of Harrison County. Each year Repair Affair sets aside one day to complete projects for the elderly or disadvantaged. There are usually about 20 teams. The joint Georgetown Lions/Georgetown Church team built a 10' x 8' deck with a 30' ramp this year. While a lot of planning was done before hand, construction began at 8:30 Saturday morning and the ramp was completed that evening.

Doggie easter egg hunt
On March 23, 2024 the Lions Club hosted the Fourth Annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at the Georgetown Optimist Club. Club members provided attendees with information about how Lions support of the Leader Dogs for the Blind organization. Destination Georgetown was on hand and raffled off a $100 gift certificate to a Georgetown business. Floyd Farm and Feed conducted the egg hunt and provided prizes at the end. It was a cold but enjoyable afternoon..
